Mr. Van Dyke, Ms. Neimoyer, and Ms. Garcia in front of the school.

Mr. Rand Van Dyke says Happy Camp reminds him of his off-grid property in McCloud, with its mountains, trees, rivers, fresh air, and friendly people. He is excited to join the community as the new Superintendent/Principal, bringing a wealth of experience. Mr. Van Dyke taught high school math for thirteen years, ran special programs, served as a department head, implemented and supported technology, and coached swimming.

He discovered a passion for helping students navigate behavior challenges when transitioning to school administration. He found ways for students to let off steam without being disruptive, disrespectful, or hurtful. He takes pride in knowing that, no matter how difficult the issue was, nearly every student he worked with left his office, understanding better behavior, thanking him, and shaking his hand.

As Mr. Van Dyke's skills grew, he took on the role and responsibilities of a principal, maintaining his student-centered focus on improving the school. He greeted students and parents daily at the front of the school, smiling and encouraging them to have a good day.

When Mr. Van Dyke moved to the district office, he gained deep knowledge of the workings of a school district, all the while maintaining his student focus in decision-making. His experiences in the classroom and school site administration made him a valuable partner for many district staff as they navigated various issues.

Please give Mr. Van Dyke a warm, Happy Camp welcome. Look for him in the community and at the front of the school, where he will be ready to greet you and wish you a fantastic day.
